Species Description
Veronica spicata is the most popular species among the veronicas. The perennial forms tussocks 20-60 cm tall. The stems are erect, with narrow and coarsely crenate leaves with wedge-shaped bases. Small, single flowers, depending on the variety—white, shades of pink, blue, or purple—are gathered in terminal, spike-shaped, slender clusters. Flowering, depending on the variety, occurs from June to September. The plants are eagerly visited by butterflies and bees. They are recommended for flower meadows and flowerbeds in larger groups. They perform well in naturalistic settings. Low-growing varieties can be used in rock gardens and containers. The flowers are useful for cutting. They grow best in sunny locations, but unlike Veronica longifolia, they require dry, well-drained soil.

Przetacznik kłosowy jest najpopularniejszym gatunkiem wśród przetaczników. Bylina tworzy kępy o wysokości 20-60 cm. Pędy są wyprostowane wzniesione, liście wąskie i grubo karbowane, o klinowatych nasadach. Drobne, pojedyncze kwiaty, w zależności od odmiany - białe, różowe w odcieniach, niebieskie lub fioletowe zebrane są w wierzchołkowe, kłosokształtne, strzeliste grona. Kwitnienie w zależności od odmiany przypada na okres od czerwca do września. Rośliny bardzo chętnie są oblatywane przez motyle i pszczoły. Polecane na łąki kwietne i rabaty w większych grupach. Sprawdzają się w założeniach naturalistycznych. Niskie odmiany można wykorzystywać w ogrodach skalnych i w pojemnikach. Kwiaty przydatne do cięcia. Najlepiej rośnie na stanowiskach słonecznych, ale w przeciwieństwie do Veronica longifolia wymaga suchych, przepuszczalnych gleb.
